Intel(R) IMB Driver for Microsoft* Windows* Readme The Intelligent Management Bus (IMB) driver is used by Intel(R) System Management Software to monitor and control aspects of server health and operation. The driver may also be used by standalone management software from Intel such as the Intel SNMP Sub-Agent and Intel One Boot Flash Update utility. The driver included in this update is for use under Microsoft Windows operating systems. This is an update to the existing driver currently included in Intel Server Management software. This driver may also be used as a replacement for the Microsoft Windows 2003 R2 native IMB driver. Replacing the Windows 2003 R2 IMB driver with this update provides full functionality for Intel System Management Software and other applications that may be using the IMB driver installed by Windows. The following sections give steps to install or replace the existing IMB driver. A. UNINSTALL PREVIOUS VERSIONS OF THE DRIVER If a previous version of the IMB driver is already installed, you must uninstall it before installing the new version. For the Microsoft IMB driver installed as part of the Management and Monitoring Tools in Windows 2003 R2, uninstall the Hardware Management component of the Management and Monitoring Tools Package using the Add/ Remove Windows Components tool. For other versions of the driver, uninstall the driver using the package you used to install it, or the uninstall option in this package. To uninstall the existing driver using the uninstall option in this package, use the following steps: 1. Copy the folder IA32 or X64 “windows2003_2000\release\XXX” or “windowsXP\Release\XXX” (based on OS in system) from the CD with all the contents to any folder on the system. 2. Execute the command “SetupIMB.exe /u” to uninstall driver. 3. Reboot system. B. INSTALLING THE NEW DRIVER Installation on IA32 Servers: 1. Copy the folder “windows2003_2000\release\ia32” or “windowsXP\Release\ia32” (based on OS in system) from the CD with all the contents to any folder on the system where driver is going to be installed. 2. Change the current working directory to the ia32 folder. 3. Execute SetupIMB.exe. 4. Click “Yes” when the warning for unsigned driver appears during installation. Installation on Intel(R) EM64T Servers: 1. In a fresh system, copy the folder “windows2003_2000\release\x64” or “windowsXP\Release\x64” (based on OS in system) from the CD with all the contents to any folder on the system where driver is going to be installed. 2. Change the current working directory to the x64 folder. 3. Execute SetupIMB.exe. 4. Click “Yes” when the warning for unsigned driver appears during installation. C. UNINSTALLING THE NEW DRIVER Uninstallation on IA32 Servers: 1. Change the current working directory to the ia32 folder that was used during the installation. 2. Execute the command “SetupIMB.exe /u” to uninstall driver 3. Reboot system for clean un installation 4. Delete the ia32 folder. Uninstallation on Intel EM64T Servers: 1. Change the current working directory to the x64 folder that was used during the installation 2. Execute the command “SetupIMB.exe /u” to uninstall driver. 3. Reboot the system. 4. Delete the x64 folder.
